5 Million Reasons To Live A More Simple Life

As I sat down to write this week’s Sunday Farm update  – I happened to glance over at the website counter and noticed we had just reached our 4,999,990th page view.

The Barn - Still one of my favorite projects

So – like any normal inquisitive person would do – I waited a few minutes and clicked the refresh button – and there it was – the grand total now stood at 5,000,001.

After a few more moments of thinking about what to write for this week – my mind drifted back to the 5 million total mark. And I began to think…Why?  Why would ten people care what about what we do on a few acres in the middle of Ohio – let alone 5,000,000 from a grand total of 225 countries around the globe.

The answer is actually quite simple – and has nothing to do with us – and everything to do with what we write about each week  – Living A More Simple Life.

Canning your own food is a great way to become more responsible for what you consume

Each and every day, more and more people from every walk of life want to grow their first garden, preserve their own food, or raise a few chickens for their own eggs. In short – live a more simple life.

There is something very special about building things on your own – and becoming responsible for the food on your table – and even more importantly – knowing where it came from.

So I spent a little time looking over all of our past weekly updates (see: Sunday Farm Updates) – which for three years now have chronicled the weekly story of building the farm and a more simple life for us.

Our little farm will always be a work in progress.  Mainly because it’s in that “work” that we find all of the fun! It’s where all of our stories and experiences come from – whether it be mice jumping out to scare Mary, or bats flying from an old barn to terrify me – the fun and memories come from the process – not the finished results.

You see, at the end of the day – it should be about having fun and about keeping it simple – or why do it at all?

Thank You to everyone who has followed along on our journey – we truly enjoy sharing the entire OWG Farm experience – and hope we have many articles and projects to share in the coming years!
