Making homemade blackberry cobbler couldn’t be easier. It takes just minutes to prepare, and uses only 6 additional ingredients.  In a little over an hour, you can be enjoying this summertime classic dessert on your back porch!

Classic blackberry cobbler made with wild blackberries and vanilla ice cream.

The wild blackberries in our area are just starting to ripen.  As we walk the tree lines next to the farm, we anxiously point out all of the canes we spot producing those thick, juicy, and of course, all-natural blackberries, yearning to be plucked and turned into something special.

In fact, if you look around as you walk on your local bike paths, golf courses and local parks, you might just spot your own wild blackberry gems draping over the brush, just waiting to be picked.

Unlike the large, oversized blackberries that you find at the grocery store, most wild blackberries are smaller in size. However, their flavor is simply out of this world in comparison to those found in the store-bought plastic containers. If you can get over the thorns on the canes and the poison ivy on the ground below, picking wild blackberries is well worth the effort! I am very thankful that Jim has taken on this chore on our farm.  In turn, I make him blackberry cobblers, pies and jams. This is one of the many reasons that we make a great team!
