So now we take it upon ourselves to bring a delicious and healthier alternative to the traditional potluck side dishes.

And there is no better way to make fresh green beans than in the Instant Pot.

What is an Instant Pot?

For those that aren’t familiar with the term Instant Pot, let me explain what it is.

Before cooking your green beans trim off the ends and cut them to the desired length.

An Instant Pot is a multi-cooker. Depending on what type of model that you own, you can use it to cook using a variety of methods.

You can use it to saute, steam, slow cook and even make rice, yogurt and more! However, the most popular function is to use it for pressure cooking.

You can literally make roasts, soups, chicken wings and other delicious meals in a fraction of the time that it takes to make it in a slow cooker or oven.

So why would you want to make green beans in the Instant Pot when it doesn’t take long to boil them on the stove?

Let me explain….

Instant Pot Fresh Green Beans

The first reason to make fresh green beans in the instant pot is to conserve space.

garlic press
Using a garlic press is an easy way to add flavor to your green beans.

When making a large meal for several people, the stove top becomes a busy space.

Therefore, sometimes there isn’t enough room to put a large stockpot full of green beans on the stove.

Secondly, when you are asked to bring a side dish to a family or potluck gathering, it is an unwritten rule that you won’t require the stove top or oven at the host location.

However, there is usually an outlet or two available for those dishes prepared in a slow cooker. Or in this case, an Instant Pot.

With just one minute of cooking time you will have the perfectly cooked, fresh green beans.

And what is the best part about making fresh green beans in the Instant Pot? They are cooked perfectly with just one minute of cooking time!

Of course, that doesn’t include the time that it takes the pot to come to pressure. However, in my 6 quart Instant Pot, it takes approximately 6-7 minutes to come to pressure.

Therefore, from start to finish, your fresh green beans can be cooked and ready to serve in less than 10 minutes!

It takes such little time to make the green beans. I actually make them right before dinner is ready to be served.

This way they are cooked to perfection and they don’t get too limp and soft.

So next time that you need to make a side dish, consider making these delicious, and easy to make Instant Pot Fresh Green Beans recipe!

Enjoy!
