The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie

  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs - room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons hot water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add mixture to batter and then add salt.
  5. Stir in flour, chocolate chips.
  6. Refrigerate for 24 hours.
  7. As soon as the batter is able to be scooped without a struggle, drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased baking pans. *We prefer to use stoneware baking sheets.
  8. Bake for about 12-15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until cookies are light brown.
