Artisan Bread Recipe

An easy to make bread recipe that requires no kneading. Great to serve with dinner, as part of a charcuterie board or with jam for breakfast.

Servings 1 loaf


  • 3 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups water 100-110°F
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons granular yeast
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper


  1. In a large bowl, add flour, yeast, salt, pepper and mix.

  2. Slowly pour in the warm water and mix ingredients. Don't feel the need to work your dough at all - just mix for few minutes and you are done!
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place the bowl in a warm area to rise until double in size. This will take 1-2 hours.

  4. Form the dough in a large ball and place on a flour dusted baking sheet or stone. Lightly dust the outer edge with a light coat of flour to prevent sticking.

  5. Cover the dough with a clean towel and let rest for about 20 to 30 minutes.

  6. Preheat oven to 450°F and place a baking dish filled with water on the lower rack. Right before placing the bread in the oven take a sharp knife and make a few slits in the top of the loaf.

  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when knocked on.

Recipe Notes

The dish with the water will help the bread stay moist and bake even.
