This is the Sunday Farm Update that we have been waiting to share for nearly a year!

Our little farm – the backdrop for the book

Our book, Growing Simple has been completed, and the official release date has been set for Tuesday, May 2nd!

I think that both of us can say that the task of writing, editing and finalizing our first book has turned out to be the biggest and yet most rewarding challenge we have faced since starting Old World Garden Farms together in 2010.

The project took us nearly 4 1/2 months longer than we had first anticipated – but then again – for two rookie authors who didn’t have the first clue about self-publishing a novel – I guess that’s not too bad.

The Year of Chaos

Although the chapters of the book are now complete – the chapters of our life and the building of Old World Garden Farms continue to unfold day by day.

We jokingly refer to 2016 as our “Year of Chaos.” We know that if we can survive the writing and publishing of the book, the re-design and moving of the website to a new server, and the selling of our current home while building our new “Simple House” at the farm – we can probably tackle anything that might come our way in the future!

In reality, as chaotic and overwhelming as it may seem at times – we have enjoyed and will continue to enjoy everything that has to do with our little farm. It is simply doing what we love to do – and when you find your passion, it never seems to feel like work. The best part of all is knowing that at the end of the 2016 “Year of Chaos” – the dream of living at the farm will become a reality – and that makes every ounce of effort worthwhile.

A Big Thank You – and a few final details…

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who sponsored the book and for making a dream come true – we will never forget your kindness and generosity!

All Kickstarter sponsors will be receiving an email in the next day or two to verify the correct name and spelling for the credit listing in the book. If you could – please reply back to the email by early next week so that we can finalize the listing – we want to make sure we have everyone correctly listed.

If you were an e-book sponsor – downloads will be available beginning on the release day of May 2nd. For those who sponsored the hardbound copy of the book – we will sign and ship those out as soon as we receive the books that same week.

As for those who wish to order a copy of the book – you will be able to pre-order both the e-book or hardbound edition beginning early next week on our site as well as Amazon.com.

Debbie – if you are looking for the physical copy and not the ebook – it will be available for pre-sale on Amazon and all of the other sites sometime around the 10th to 20th of May. We will let everyone know when that option is available and thanks so much for the pre-order! Jim and Mary

Congratulations! You guys have inspired us: our building of raised beds, canning, composting. We tried our sweet potatoes in a crate, and are working on decluttering and simplifying. Thanks for the inspiration. Looking forward to the book
