Now I am not saying that Alfredo sauce is healthy by any means. However, when you make your own sauce, you know exactly what is going into the pan. No preservatives and no artificial chemicals.

In fact, this Chicken Alfredo sauce contains just 8 simple ingredients that you can easily pronounce, and that are often found in your own kitchen.

How to Make Chicken Alfredo

The recipe below is designed for an entire meal. Therefore we will go through each step on how to make Chicken Alfredo that is intended for serving over cooked pasta.

garlic and butter
In the same skillet that the chicken was cooked, add butter and then use a garlic press to mince the garlic cloves.

However, for those that love Alfredo sauce for other uses, such as pizza sauce or just to serve over noodles, you can skip making the chicken and simply make the sauce by itself.

But for true Chicken Alfredo, you must first start with cutting the chicken into cubes. Then in a hot skillet melt the butter and cook the chicken with the seasonings. Once fully cooked, remove the chicken from the pan and begin to make your Alfredo sauce.

Alfredo Sauce Instructions

In the same skillet used to cook the chicken, add the butter and garlic and cook for 1 minute. We like to use fresh garlic from our garden. However, if you don’t have a fresh garlic or a garlic press, you can use jarred minced garlic as well.

After you have added the flour, slowly pour in the milk and seasonings and stir until it begins to thicken.

Then add the flour to the garlic butter mixture and stir until incorporated. Next, slowly pour in the milk, stirring constantly. As the sauce begins to thicken, add the Alfredo Sauce seasonings.

Continue to stir and add in the Parmesan cheese until completely melted. Pour the sauce over the cooked pasta and then add the chicken on top. Toss the pasta and chicken so that the the Alfredo sauce has a chance to coat each piece.

Parmesan cheese
Once the sauce begins to thicken, add fresh grated Parmesan cheese and continue to stir.

Garnish with additional Parmesan cheese and parsley and serve immediately.

Make Ahead

You can make your Alfredo Sauce ahead of time and store in the refrigerator for 3 days. When you go to make your Chicken Alfredo Pasta, simply warm the sauce in the same skillet that you have cooked your chicken.

Stir in the additional Parmesan cheese and fresh diced parsley for added flavor.

However, this time there is no need to remove your chicken pieces. Just toss the sauce over the chicken once it is cooked and then serve over pasta.

Enjoy!
